Saturday, June 8th at Paramount BJJ in Downingtown, PA
The first ever Paramount Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu In-House tournament is rapidly approaching! This tournament was created specifically for children, teens, and white belt adults.
It’s a super fun way for students of Jiu-Jitsu to experience the rush and excitement of a real-life scenario but in a safe and friendly environment. Even though there are no strikes involved in a Jiu-Jitsu competition, there will be adrenaline flowing and full resistance from opponents during the matches.
Therefor, it’s a great way to understand what a real-life self-defense scenario would feel like and how your body would respond. Perhaps more important, the camaraderie that forms between competitors and friendships that develop are truly amazing.

Summer is rapidly approaching, which means in just a few short months the kids will be headed back to school, or into highschool or off to their first year away at college.
For parents of college-age kids this is a scary time. There’s a lot of danger out there and your child’s safety is priceless. One of our students recently expressed his concern for his daughter as she prepares to go into her freshman year at college.
If you’re familiar with Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, then you know the entire system is based on realistic Street Self-Defense. Simple techniques that use leverage and positioning to allow a smaller person to defend themselves against a bigger, stronger attacker.
At Paramount Jiu-Jitsu, this is the system we teach. So we’re doing a “Summer Self-Defense” promotion geared specifically towards highschool and college age children.
This class isn’t JUST for teenagers and college students, it’s for ANYONE who wants to learn how to defend themselves on the street in as little as 3months. It really is that simple!
If you’re a mom, dad, husband, etc who wants to KNOW that his children and spouse can survive even the most vicious attack, CALL 610-269-1127 and schedule a visit to our Downingtown PA academy for a FREE Orientation and Tour.
Oh, and we’ll give you a FREE lesson during the orientation so you can see First-Hand how easy and effective these techniques are.
If you’re a fan of the UFC and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), the short video below will be fascinating. The story behind how the UFC was created and why.

Check out this Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu technique, a critical move in self-defense which can be practiced with a training partner at full speed. This is just one of the incredibly effective street-defense techniques taught at Paramount BJJ in Downingtown PA.

When it comes to trying something new, one of the most common sayings from just about anyone over the age of 30 is, “I’m too old for that.” It doesn’t matter if it’s bicycling, tennis or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
But once again, someone steps up to prove all the naysayers wrong. Meet John, who started training at Paramount BJJ in January of this year. He’s a regular, and makes some of the younger guys look like wimps!
In all seriousness, never doubt yourself. If there’s something you want to try- Do it! As far as we know, we only have one shot at this life, let’s make the most of it! Please forgive the cliché.

This weekend the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) held the prestigious NY Open. Paramount BJJ Children’s Instructors Ed Westermark and Mike Thomas both competed and won Gold in their respective divisions.
Then, showing the true true spirit of martial arts, Ed and Mike decided to challenge themselves even further by entering the Absolute division- where the medalists of all weight categories meet to find out who is the best of the best. Both of them won Gold there too!
Between the two of them, they won 12 matches without losing a single match.
Although competition is not the top priority with our students, what Coach Ed and Coach Mike accomplished does show the spirit of our Childrens Program. Never be afraid to challenge yourself, to believe in yourself and try to accomplish something great!
