UFC 126 Results

UFC 126 is in the books, and with it another spectacular display of Mixed Martial Arts skill from Middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Despite challenger Vitor Belfort’s experience and well-known hand speed he was simply no match for Silva’s diverse attack.

Both are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts, but it was a front kick to the chin in the very first round that ended the night for Belfort and added even more hype to the rumored Silva vs. GSP superfight in the works.

If a person 50lbs heavier than you attacked you in the street, would you be confident in your ability to escape the situation unharmed? Could you protect your family against them?

Do you truly know how to defend yourself?
If you’re not training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the answer is NO.

Self-defense situations are not pretty, they are brutal and savage and can end a person’s life. It is absolutely imperative that you understand how critical it is that you know how to defend yourself. It can be the difference between life and death, for you or a loved one.

This weekend the Abu Dhabi USA Pro Trials takes place in Jersey City, NJ. The Abu Dhabi World Cup is a professional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament which is held each year in the United Arab Emirates. Winners are awarded cash prizes and the title of ADCC World Cup Champion.

As with every major tournament Team Lloyd Irvin is bringing a team of the top competitors to the Trials, including three of the top competitors from Team Paramount. At purple belt we have Kevin Macmullen, who’s coming off of his Bronze medal performance at the World Series of Grappling in December. Kevin defeated 3 tough opponents at that event, and we expect big things from him this year. at blue belt Eric Desmarais will be looking to keep his win streak alive. Eric took Gold in his division at the World Series of Grappling and will be competing at this years Pan American tournament as well. Also making his 2011 debut is young Ed Westermark, who continues to improve and impress.

Here is a match from the Brazilian Trials featuring reigning World Champion Michael Langhi:

The weekend of the Superbowl will bring us not only the biggest football game of the year, but also on of the biggest UFC and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) cards in a very long time.

UFC Middleweight king Anderson Silva defends his crown against former champion Vitor Belfort. Both are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts with lightening  fast and accurate striking. Silva is coming off a 5th round triangle choke submission over Chael Sonnen, a fight in which he displayed the heart of a true champion and pulled off the win with a classic BJJ move.

On the undercard are two potential barn-burners as former champs Rich Franklin and Forrest Griffin go head to head, and up-and-comers Jon Jones and Ryan Bader clash to see who is the next big name at 205.
