We are just over a week away from one of the most exciting events of the year! Below you will find the general info including rules for the 2015 Paramount Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (PBJJ) Spring In-House tournament. We will have a rules meeting prior to the start of the Children’s divisions and again before the Adult divisions.

- 10:00am – Rules meeting and beginning of children’s matches
- 12:30pm – Gi raffle (competitors will get a raffle ticket once weighed/checked in)
- 1:00pm – Rules meeting and beginning of teen and adult matches
Ways to Win
- Submission
- Points
- Advantage/s (if points are tied)
- Referee decision (if points and advantages are tied)
Points
- 2 points will be awarded for takedowns, throws, sweeps and the knee-on-stomach position
- 3 points will be awarded when a competitor passes his/her opponent’s guard
- 4 points will be awarded when a competitor achieves the mount or back position
- An advantage will be awarded for a near submission or near score
- There are no points for escapes
Match Lengths
- Children’s matches are 3:00
- Teens matches are 4:00
- White belt adult matches are 5:00
- Blue belt adult matches are 6:00
Illegal Techniques
- Slamming (from takedown or from guard)
- Scissor takedown
- Reaping the knee
- Cervical locks (“neck cranks”)
- Toe holds, knee bars, compression locks (“crushers,” and “slicers”)
- Wristlocks in children’s, teen and white belt adult divisions
