The Georgia International Convention Center was the place to be yesterday, as the IBJJF held its first US tournament of the year: The 2015 Atlanta Winter Open. 6 competitors from Paramount BJJÂ plus head instructor Brad Court made the trip to compete, check out the results below:
Head Instructor and 2nd degree black belt Brad Court won his division, after defeating two very tough and skilled opponents. This was his first competition in a year and a half, and after an ACL replacement just 10 months ago.
Abi Durrant made her blue belt debut, winning Bronze in the featherweight division, and Silver in the open weight division. Phil Mento looked fantastic, winning his first 3 matches by submission and earning a Bronze medal. Anthony Pacinelli hit a lightening fast submission (21 seconds) and finished with Bronze in heavyweight.
All 6 competitors fought hard and battled through some tough spots, and once again Paramount BJJ proved why it’s the elite training center for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in all of Chester County, PA: West Chester, Exton, Downingtown and beyond.
Next up: The NAGA Philadelphia Championships on Feb. 7th and the IBJJF Pan American Championships, March 11-15th.
