Changes in Children’s BJJ Ranking System

In an effort to simplify things for both the children and instructors, we are making a slight change to our BJJ ranking system for the children.

As of June 4th, we will no longer hold stripe tests for students solid gray belt and up. Students will still need to earn 4 stripes on their white belt, and 4 stripes on their gray/white belt to advance. After that they will be promoted by belt only.

Why?

Many children have the skill level of a higher belt, but are unintentionally held back because they haven’t yet earned 4 stripes on their current belt. In addition, we want to encourage the children to enjoy the process of learning and have fun, and not focus on getting a stripe every 2 months.

I am very excited to streamline the program and allow children who are excelling to wear the belt they deserve, without having to wait for and then pass 4 stripe tests.
