2014 has been a good year for Paramount BJJ purple belt Ed Westermark. He won Gold at the New York Spring Open, double Gold at the Boston Summer Open, double Gold at the Pan American Championships No-Gi, and now he has his second medal from the World Championships.
Ed won his match in the elimination rounds, then won his quarterfinal match to reach the medal rounds. Although he would end his campaign in the semi-finals and fall short of his goal, it’s important to recognize the achievement as well as the effort and sacrifice it took.
Ed is one of the strongest competitors at Paramount, he’s focused and determined when he steps onto the mat. Yet he also keeps things in perspective, he has fun and often jokes during both training and matches. His grit and determination are second to none, and you can be sure he will achieve a world title before he’s done competing.
